coat the plywood every side, every edge, every screw hole, etc. with two coats of strht epoxy. you can do this in one day. wait until the second coat has lost it's tackiness, then apply the cloth 6 - 10 ounce will be fine , by draping it over the plywood. wet it out and remove any wrinkles, bubbles, etc.

depending on your metalworking tools and skills, you can make some nice composite beams with aluminum angle and 0.050' or so aluminum sheet. need to drill or punch a number of holes, followed with rivets, and you have a nice light fabricated structure to support the floor. wood is easier to work with, and might be cheaper, but is heavier.
